Organic Young and Green People sponsor Miss Earth UK

Saturday the 22nd of August played host to the Miss Earth UK final and Green People were at the event as proud sponsors. The contest was a two day event to find the 4 finalists, Miss England, Miss Northern Ireland, Miss Scotland and Miss Wales, who would travel to the Philippines to represent the UK in the search for Miss Earth World 2009.

When Green People were asked to be part of the search for the finalists for we jumped at the chance. Encouraging people to care for the environment is a topic Green People are more than happy to promote.

Little did we know when we signed up that we would also be on the judging panel! Sue Losson and Charlotte Dockreay from Green People were joined among others by last year’s winners and Dr Earth from Club 4 Climate to judge the girls on their green credentials. 

The girls were put through their paces over this two day event. Friday night hosted a gruelling interview process where girls spoke about what projects they had been involved in and why they considered themselves green enough to be titled Miss Earth. Saturday evening was a staged show for the girls to show their public speaking skills, their green messages and their fashion designing skills. They had to make an outfit for the night from recycled items which they took in their stride and the catwalk was adorned with some incredible creations, no one had skimped on originality!

With a stand full of products on hand in the interval, Sue and Charlotte got to help people in the audience with their beauty product questions. From concealing pesky spots with our Oy! Cover & Clear to Organic Sun protection with our SPF15, there were products on hand to answer everyone’s questions

As the contest came to an end Green People were proud to have had the opportunity to present the 4 winning ladies with Green People Hampers full of lovely organic products. Through tears of joy the girls couldn’t thank us enough for giving them so many wonderful products to enjoy.

After handing over their crowns to this years winners Caroline Duffy, Courtney St. John, Jamie Lee Williams and Gemma Michelle Walker were left feeling slightly upset. To get their big smiles back we presented the girls with a hamper packed full of Organic Young! products to keep their skin in tip-top condition. They were delighted to receive a present after having had to give up their sparkly crowns to the new winning girls.

The evening ended with the room filled with applause as 4 girls and their crowns posed on stage feeling extremely happy with their achievement!!
